Goals

Mental illness can cause people to lose sight of what they wanted in life. I know from experience, I'm on my journey to figuring out exactly who I am and what I am going to pursue in my life. It's difficult to make progress when at every step forward, you are told how you need to do more, stop taking steps and leap. That's the truth though, and one that I am struggling to accept. Continuously moving on, whether it's going to a place that had been the location of a triggering event, talking to someone, or even ordering a tea or coffee for yourself. It all depends on you and where you want to go. I'm struggling with school, but I am working towards getting to a point in the future where I can attend college. I have to take the steps towards my goal, not a therapist, not my parents, not my friends; I have to take the steps for myself. That's a truth that I believe everyone should be reminded of, no matter how difficult it is to accept and pursue. So I encourage whoever reads this, create a goal for yourself, no matter how big or small and set yourself up for success.
